Marks and Spencer slash price of 'very aesthetic' picnic hamper that can store full bottle of wine

The £32 hamper is said to be ideal for gifting, outdoor cinemas and cute picnic

The £32 hamper is said to be ideal for gifting, outdoor cinemas and cute picnic dates

Marks and Spencer shoppers have fallen in love with a picnic hamper that's perfect for dates, open-air cinemas and girly days out. It comes as the renowned high street retailer has slashed the price of all its picnicware by 20 per cent.

The ‘gorgeous’ Rattan Picnic Hamper comes in a rustic finish with basket space for food and snacks, with two drinks holders attached which can hold a bottle of wine, fizz, or other preferred tipple, WalesOnline reports.

The stylish basket was originally £40, but has been slashed to £32 in the sale, saving customers £8 on the summer must-have, with many saying it's perfect for couples or small families.

Marks and Spencer shared a video of the basket in use on their Instagram page last week, and shoppers were left swooning over the rattan basket. The retailer said: "Elevate your picnic experience with this traditional rattan hamper. It has plenty of room for delicious snacks in the main compartment, which closes with an easy fastening. There are also two drink holders for water and fizz"

So far, it's received 16 reviews from customers on the website, all of which are four and five stars. Shoppers have said they love the look of the hamper, and have even been sharing their ideas of how to use it.

One said: "It's a good size to carry around for a picnic of two. So glad I bought this and it looks very aesthetic too!"

Another added: "Gorgeous picnic hamper love the look of it. Will get used a lot!"

One even filled theirs with gifts as a present, commenting: "Bought this as a birthday gift, filled it with little goodies, a bottle of wine & champagne. Not big enough for functional use but perfect as a gift. It could accommodate 2 glasses and a few nibbles."

A fourth said it's great for those open-air cinemas: "This hamper is really lovely! I was looking for something to take to the outside cinema this summer and this is perfect!! It's very sturdy and well made. It isn't too big or too small. It is perfect for just a few snacks or a couple of packs of sandwiches and crisps. It will hold 2 bottles comfortably and doesn't feel flimsy when it's got stuff loaded in. So chuffed with this!"

Some weren't so keen on the colour, but still adored the hamper, commenting: "The hamper's great! Nice size, bottle holders are handy (we use one for pop and one for plastic tumblers) and it's not heavy. It's not the same colour as the photo, which is why I’ve given it 4 stars. It's more of a dirty brown/grey, but does the job."

It's one of the most affordable picnic baskets with drinks holders we found online, with this one from The Basket Company coming in at £50, meanwhile this wicker hamper from Oliver Bonas holds two bottles and glasses, but little else for £49.50.

The M&S picnic basket costs £32, which means it also qualifies for shoppers to snap up the M&S summer beauty bag for £25. The retailer currently has an offer which means when shoppers spend £30 online, they can get the M&S Summer Beauty bag for £25.

The bag features no fewer than 11 beauty buys from best-loved brands like Clinique, Pixi and Phillip Kingsley, seven of which are full sized, with a total value of £155.
